The beautiful yellow and purple irises were the showstoppers at this time in front of the Peterson home. Every inch of the gardens and yard are meticulously arranged and cared for. The lime green ground cover near the front stoop is a beautiful contrast to the heuchera, the other colorful plants, and the front walk. Pots of flowers on the stoop are very welcoming. The hostas around the trees and foundation create a very finished look. Plus a lovely hanging basket adds a deep purple color to the mix. The edging around the gardens is also perfect and unique.
There’s no rule that you must grow flowers if you live on Floral Drive, but it sure is nice when things work out that way. As our first Garden of the Month winners for June, you might say Galen and Teresa Zellner have taken springtime blooms to new heights with a display of iris and alliums that stands tall against the well-manicured green below. If you’re picking up on a color theme, it’s because purple happens to be Teresa’s favorite color.
Galen says more than 95 percent of the plants were passed along to him or salvaged from beds that were being destroyed. With his retirement “just around the corner,” he already has an eye on expanding things.
Please join us in congratulating Galen and Teresa for their efforts in making Allouez beautiful and colorful!
